Whether you’re dinning out with friends or having a date night this weekend these are our favorite Italian restaurants in the city you must try!
Aroma (LES) – When dining here you are in for a real romantic evening with lovely Italian dishes. The seasonal menu is creatively delicious and the wine list is incredible. When you walk in, you will think it’s very small, but there is a new addition in the back plus seating in a wine cellar hidden downstairs. The dishes change regularly but the risotto and orecchiette are always a treat.
Craft Bar (Gramercy) – Out of all of Tom Colicchio’s NYC restaurants this is probably my favorite. It is not stuffy, incredible food, lovely decor, and great wine and beer lists. The menu is seasonal, so it’s constantly changing. My favorite staples are the Veal Ricotta Meatballs with Spaghetti and pecorino risotto balls.
Frankies Spuntino (West Village/Brooklyn) – Frankies is an Italian experience you can’t miss. They have the freshest ingredients from their homemade pasta, artisan soups, and cured meats. It is all so tasty that you’ll want to try everything on the menu. My favorite is the Cavatelli with sage butter & sausage, pillow light Gnocci, and pine nut raisin meatballs. The mere fact you can order take out is reason enough to move to the west village.
Hearth (LES) – Led by chef Marco Canora this seasonal italian restaurant never disappoints. My favorite way to experience this restaurant is to order the tasting menu. Because it is a seasonal menu each dish represents the finest produce found in the green market. Bonus points as the wine list is not only extensive, but creative.
Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria (NOHO) – Located a block away from it’s big sister Il Buco, this location is a more casual version. You can sit upstairs at the communal tables or downstairs next to the deli serving incredible charcuterie. The often changing pasta dishes are incredible and this is the perfect dining choice for a large family style meal.
Uva (UES) – Being an UESider, this is my favorite in my area for my pasta craving. Beautiful room, fantastic wine list, tasty pasta dishes, and lovely charcuterie & cheese plates. Very romantic and perfect for a date night in the city. Try the crispy Robiola Cheese & truffles, Pappardelle with veal ragout, and the Cavatelli with Pesto sauce. Bonus – Outdoor seating in both the front and back of the restaurant
