The Chambray Shirt 3 Ways

I am a firm believer that every woman must own at least one Chambray shirt.  Whether it’s light or dark, it is a classic piece essential for a stylish wardrobe.  Chambray can be worn all year round, but during the spring/summer months, is when it really shines.  Often times, because it’s denim, it gets put into the casual category.  However, Chambray is not as simple as you’d think.  It has a lot of versatility to it and can, if styled properly, look refined.  It really comes down to what you pair it with.  When trying a more sophisticated look, couple it with a pencil skirt and pumps.  Or if you want to be feminine and flirty, go with a full skirt or maxi.  Don’t forget that when styling, accessories are key.  You can wear the same thing from morning to night by simply changing up your accessories.  Once you start playing around with Chambray, you will see that it is just as classic as a white blouse.  There are so many ways to wear this top that the possibilities are virtually endless.  To make it easier for you, I have put together three fabulous outfits that you must try this season!  Go for a professional look at the office, jazz it up for an evening out, and style it for a more refined weekend look.  Hopefully these looks will inspire you to go out and find the perfect chambray for you.  Happy styling!

  1. Love this! I’m obsessed with chambray… it’s seriously a closet staple. I love to pair it with unexpected pieces, like a sequined skirt or something really feminine. It’s such a great contrast. (And I think I need those lavender pumps!!) What a great post! x Stephanie

  2. Thank you, you’re so sweet! Chambray has truly replaced white shirts as my everyday basic. I love the idea of pairing it with a sequin skirt to glam it up. I’m obsessed with the pumps too, in fact, I will be doing a lot of shopping this weekend based on my research from this post. It’s a tough life but someone’s gotta do it 🙂

    • I totally agree that it’s the new white shirt! And you know what? Not all chambray is created equal. I experienced that firsthand! When I bought my first chambray shirt, it took me awhile to find the perfect one! The wash, cut, pocket placement, button type… all need to be right. JCrew’s are amazing, though. The one from your post is fabulous.

  3. Thanks, I just purchased this and it’s already paid for itself. When it comes to Chambray I for one love the lighter to medium shades but finding the right one for you can take time. But once you find it it’s the best, glad you liked the post!

  4. Love these styles! Especially great for me since I was just lusting a Celine bag this morning and froze up at the price tag… that CK bag is such a great alternative! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

    • Thank you! I was just looking at Celine bags too! My birthday is next week and I wanted to get a special bag. I just can’t do the Celine though so when I saw the CK bag I thought it would be a good alternative to the look I want!
