Weekly Finds

August has always been an odd month for me.  It means that summer is coming to an end and, before we know it, we’ll be looking for Halloween costumes, cooking for Thanksgiving dinner, and buying Christmas gifts!  I know that I may sound a bit dramatic, but we need to hold onto what’s left of summer and make it count! It is very important to get as much rest and relaxation as possible.   We have all fall and winter to get serious and ready to hibernate again.  I have been away so much this summer that I have barely gotten to enjoy the city.  This weekend, I am making it my personal goal to pick one neighborhood in New York City and spend the day there.  I want to go shopping in one-of-a-kind boutiques, visit coffee shops, eat lunch outdoors in the sun, and stroll through a park or along the Hudson River.  All of these things sound so simple but, because I’ve been away so much this summer, I’ve hardly had a chance to do the simple things.  Next week I will report back to you on this mini adventure and hope that inspires you to go beyond your usual stomping grounds before the cold weather returns.  In the meantime, I’d love to hear what’s on deck for you this weekend!  If anything, find a way to relax and enjoy the sun!

FOODIE: I may not be familiar with Georgian cuisine, but after reading this article, I must eat at Old Tbilisi Garden!  I dare you to look at the picture and not drool.

BACK TO SCHOOL: I was that kid who was so excited for new school supplies.  Even though I’m no longer a student, I still enjoy buying new items for my desk like this adorable day planner.

TV FASHION: I recently binge watched “The Americans” and I love Verily Magazine’s article on how to get an easy 80’s vintage style from the hit show.

PIN OF THE WEEK:  Jump on the jewelry trend I am currently obsessed with and discover how to stack rings like a pro.

BOOK CLUB: Calling all fashion lovers.  If you’re going to read one book this summer, I highly recommend All’s Fair In Love & Wardrobe.

GET IT WHILE YOU CAN:  A Sparkle Factor’s post this week breaks down what summer fashion trends she’ll miss the most.  Which will you miss?

SMART SHOPPER: Check out these H&M finds that could easily pass for designer.
