Color Crush: Summer Blues

Yesterday I talked about my go-to summer uniform.  Well today, I want to keep the conversation going by revealing more of my fashion favorites for summer.  It’s been a while since I’ve done a Color Crush post, but this one is very appropriate for July.  So let’s talk about my current favorite hue to wear:  blue.  I mean who doesn’t love blue?  There are so many different variations that you really can’t go wrong.  Pick navy for a nautical look, powder blue for a softer feminine style, or cobalt to stand out in the crowd.  I am always putting together nautical outfits.  I haven’t met a navy striped shirt that I didn’t like.  Blue makes me happy because it is calming and peaceful.  It reminds me of water and, whether you’re at the beach or stuck in the city, it should get you in a good mood for some summer fun.  Today, I rounded up my favorite blue looks and I hope it inspires you to wear it all season long.

Color Crush: Pastels

Welcome to spring and the wonderful world of pastels.  Now, we’re in the season where pops of buttercup, petal pink, and powdery blue are the perfect antidote to the dark and dreary colors of winter.  It is time to put away the moody winter tones and replace them with lighter options.  I know that wearing pastels for spring doesn’t sound original.  But in fact, blush is everywhere right now.  The great thing about pastels is that they are more of a classic staple and less of a fleeting trend.  I just love wearing pretty and soft pastels.  They are a sophisticated neutral that is also feminine and sweet.  Pastels look great when paired with another pastel.  For instance, wear blush with lavender or powder blue with mint. Another option is to stick with the same color but in a darker variation for a monochrome look.  My favorite is to wear them with white.  This combination is a foolproof approach to updating an on-trend all-white look.  To make your style edgier, try mixing them with metallic or with a leather moto jacket for some texture.  I am a big fan of pastels for spring and I highly suggest you try them out!

Color Crush: Burgundy & Blush

I love burgundy and I love blush, so why not wear them together! In recent Color Crush posts, I have featured both of these colors as hues you should have in your wardrobe. Now I am here to show you how fabulous they are when worn together. Burgundy is rich and dramatic, whereas blush is light and romantic; this duo is match made in heaven. There are no rules when it comes to mastering this color combination. Just find your favorite styles and play around with them. You can push yourself a little further by incorporating navy, camel, or forest green. There are many ways to wear this look. I have put together two outfit combinations, one for day and the other for night. Whether you dress this look up or down, hopefully this post will get you in the right direction. So how do you plan on wearing blush and burgundy together? I’d like to hear what color combination is your favorite!

Color Crush: Marsala

My current Color Crush happens to be, Pantone’s Color of the Year, Marsala.  Everyone seems to have a different interpretation for what Marsala actually is.  Sometimes it looks like burgundy, berry, or other times even eggplant.  Personally, I feel that Marsala looks a lot like oxblood to me.  Regardless of how the color looks through your eyes, pick your favorite shade of Marsala and you’ll be fine.  It is a fantastic color for the season and one you need to have in your closet.  I have a feeling I may go a bit marsala overboard while shopping, but it’s very rare for me to venture out of my all black and grey wardrobe, so why not go for it!  Rich colors are what fall is all about, and whether you go head-to-toe, or just a pop of color, it’ll up your style game.  I am loving the color in sweater form, but I think any of these items that I chose are fabulous!  Need a few style tips?  Marsala goes fabulous with grey, cobalt, navy, camel, black (of course), and even blush!  I would love to hear what you think of the color and how you plan to wear it this fall.  Maybe these picks will help you decide.

Color Crush: Blush

In the summertime, I always gravitate to lightweight, pale-colored clothing.   This season is no different because I have a serious crush on blush. It is a perfect color for summer, even though I wear it all-year round, because it is a soft, light, and feminine color. When it is super hot outside, you don’t want to be in a dark color, and blush is a great way to cool things down. It has been a very popular color for the past couple of seasons and it is not losing steam anytime soon. With most pink hues, you run the risk of looking too Elle Woods or like a bottle of Pepto Bismol. However, blush is such a subtle version of pink that you can’t go wrong with either wearing it as an accent or the star. When styling your favorite blush pieces, keep in mind that it works well paired with navy, white, nude, or grey. If you love blush but don’t want to look too girly, try pairing it with a darker hue like navy or brown; it really changes the look. My last color crush was all about wearing white head-to-toe. I know that some of my readers didn’t like the idea of it, so wearing an all blush ensemble is a great compromise. If I can’t convince you, maybe these fabulous styles can? In this roundup, I have selected a few items that have been on my wish list for a while now. That’s no surprise though; I am currently very attracted to this color and believe that it should be on your top of your list for summer fashion must-haves!

Color Crush: Mellow Yellow

We all have that one color that we believe we can’t wear.  No matter how many times people try to persuade us otherwise, you just can’t wear a color that you don’t feel good in.  For me that color is yellow.  However, just because this hue and I don’t see eye to eye, does not mean you shouldn’t be wearing it.  I have pulled together the best yellow styles that will make you shine this season.  Maybe while researching, I will find one that I want to try.  After all, yellow is a great color to wear during the spring and summer.  Yellow is light, refreshing, and eye-catching and is fabulous when worn with white, blue, or nude.  Let me know in the comments below which piece is your favorite and I am sure it’ll be a great fit for your summer wardrobe!
