Currently Coveting: Leopard Print

This season’s collections have a lot of spots in them.  I found when shopping for fall that leopard printed fashions are everywhere right now.   The animal print trend is fun, flirty, and really easy to pull off.  It adds attitude to any outfit, whether you go bold with a jacket or simplistic with a belt.  I personally love the look of wearing a pair of leopard print pumps with a classic LBD.  One way to make leopard print even more dramatic is to mix it with jewel tones.  I hope by now you can see that the sky’s the limit when styling this feline print.    You’re in luck because finding the perfect piece of this print is very easy this season.  I have rounded up 10 of my favorite styles that will take your wardrobe to the next level and you will be fall ready.

The It Bag for Fall From Gigi New York

Now that fall is here, it is time decide which bag you’ll be carrying this season. You’re going to want something that is classic, versatile, and can go from day to night. The number one bag of my dreams is Chloe’s saddlebag. Unfortunately, I can never quite pull the trigger due to its high price tag. When I started my fall handbag research, the first place I visited was Gigi New York. Known for their high-quality leather goods, I have become a huge fan of their simplistic and classic designs. I was very excited to see that a part of their FW collection is a Saddle Bag called the Jenni. One reason why I am drawn to the Jenni is because it reminds me of the Chloe collection.   Thanks to Gigi New York, I can have the look I love without breaking the bank nor compromising quality and style. The Jenni Saddle Bag comes in several timeless hues that are perfect from autumn. I can’t quite decide which one I want. Should I go for a rich cognac or navy, or a lighter option like stone or grey? Whichever I pick, I know that this bag will be a part of my wardrobe for many years.   Do you have a favorite bag style? I have been a slave to the clutch and tote but I think this style might be my new go-to bag. It fits all of my necessary items and is fabulously chic, and perfect for fall!

How to Wear White After Labor Day

I know, I know, no white after Labor Day. Who made up that stupid rule? In my opinion, in fashion, there are no rules. Being a stylista is all about self-expression, and we shouldn’t allow anyone to tell us what we should and shouldn’t wear.   The idea of retiring your whites after Labor Day is outdated. I love wearing white in the fall and winter just as much as spring and summer.   When it comes to transitioning white into your fall wardrobe, remember that it’s all about the fabric. Lighter summer fabrics like linen, eyelet, and seersucker are too delicate. Make sure you stick to chunky wool, cashmere, and leather. Textures are key in any fall outfit especially when you wear a lighter hue. Also, mixing white with a dark contrasting color like burgundy, navy, and black will help you achieve the perfect fall look. To further prove that white should be a staple in your fall wardrobe, take a look at the three outfits I put together. Hopefully this will convince and inspire you.

Currently Coveting: Leather Moto Jacket

Lately, I have started obsessing over all of the new fall fashions.  I may love summer, but autumn is my favorite season for clothes.  There are a lot of exciting options out there, and you get to play with layering different pieces and mixing textures.  I know we’re not close to packing away our summer wardrobe, but it’s never too early to start shopping for fall.  One item in particular that I am looking forward to wearing is a leather moto jacket.  No matter the color, leather jackets are great layering pieces that add a much needed edginess to an outfit.  I always consider my summer style as being romantic and pretty, whereas in fall, I want it to be more dramatic.  Enter the leather jacket!  Also, I am a big fan of trying to get the most out of my seasonal clothing.  You can easily keep wearing your favorite summer dress by throwing on a leather moto and, poof, you’re ready for cooler weather!   Yesterday’s post was all about essential items you need in your wardrobe for autumn, and this style definitely falls into that category.  Even though, some years, this style is more popular than others, doesn’t make it too trendy.  A leather jacket is classic and can last you many years.   Below are some of my favorite pieces and I made sure I covered several different color options.  You can easily wear a lighter color like bone or heather grey this season; the sky’s the limit!

Beat the Heat With Culottes

When you’re walking on the city streets or waiting on the subway platform for the train, it is unbearable to wear jeans.  I know that we all love jeans because they go with everything, but comfort is key for beating the heat.  I may wear a light jean jacket for those rare cool summer evenings.  Other than that, denim is high on my least-friendly-summer fabrics.  Thankfully, for those days where pants are necessary, there are several options that are lightweight and comfortable.  My favorite style at the moment is culottes.  They are chic, comfy, and provide coverage without being too constricting.  It took me awhile to get on the culottes bandwagon because I thought they aren’t for everybody.  However, I think that no matter your body type, you can pull them off with confidence if you pair them with the right ensemble.  The best way to style culottes is to wear them like an a-line skirt. Tuck in a blouse or go bold with a crop top, and then finish them off with heels for some height (especially for you petite ladies).  Don’t go too crazy; stick to basic colors like black, navy, or soft neutrals. If you’re still on the fence, try a longer pair and they will appear more like a wide legged pant.  I understand that styling these pants can be tricky, but I have your back.  Whether you’re wearing your culottes on a night out, for a weekend brunch, or to work (yes, it’s possible), here are 3 outfits to inspire you.  Summer is sticking around for another month, but who knows how long this sweltering weather will last.  One thing for sure, this pant will keep you cool, stylish, and be a great transition piece for fall.   Which one of these outfits do you like best?  I just can’t decide!

Color Crush: Summer Blues

Yesterday I talked about my go-to summer uniform.  Well today, I want to keep the conversation going by revealing more of my fashion favorites for summer.  It’s been a while since I’ve done a Color Crush post, but this one is very appropriate for July.  So let’s talk about my current favorite hue to wear:  blue.  I mean who doesn’t love blue?  There are so many different variations that you really can’t go wrong.  Pick navy for a nautical look, powder blue for a softer feminine style, or cobalt to stand out in the crowd.  I am always putting together nautical outfits.  I haven’t met a navy striped shirt that I didn’t like.  Blue makes me happy because it is calming and peaceful.  It reminds me of water and, whether you’re at the beach or stuck in the city, it should get you in a good mood for some summer fun.  Today, I rounded up my favorite blue looks and I hope it inspires you to wear it all season long.

Summer Staple: Shorts & Shirt Combos

Ladies, shorts season is upon us and, I got to say, I am loving how effortless and cute they are. Each season I always have a favorite look that I recycle over and over again. Usually it’s skirts or dresses but chasing a toddler around, I need something that I can get up and down while staying appropriate. That is why, this summer, I’m all about comfort and simplicity. Pairing shorts with a cute top sounds really easy, and perhaps boring, but there are a lot of fun ways to do it.   You can go with a printed or colorful short, or be on trend with a off the shoulder shirt. If you have trouble finding the perfect pair for you, don’t be discouraged. There are no longer only short shorts. Now they come in all kinds of styles, from high waist to boyfriend shorts. When shopping, remember that it’s all about the shape and fabric. I have a pear shaped body so a high waist soft fabric short gives the allusion of a midi skirt without wearing one. I love the look; in fact, I am lusting after all of these combos I have thrown together. If you’re still searching for summer styles, look no further because time is running out!
