Now that fall is here, it is time decide which bag you’ll be carrying this season. You’re going to want something that is classic, versatile, and can go from day to night. The number one bag of my dreams is Chloe’s saddlebag. Unfortunately, I can never quite pull the trigger due to its high price tag. When I started my fall handbag research, the first place I visited was Gigi New York. Known for their high-quality leather goods, I have become a huge fan of their simplistic and classic designs. I was very excited to see that a part of their FW collection is a Saddle Bag called the Jenni. One reason why I am drawn to the Jenni is because it reminds me of the Chloe collection.   Thanks to Gigi New York, I can have the look I love without breaking the bank nor compromising quality and style. The Jenni Saddle Bag comes in several timeless hues that are perfect from autumn. I can’t quite decide which one I want. Should I go for a rich cognac or navy, or a lighter option like stone or grey? Whichever I pick, I know that this bag will be a part of my wardrobe for many years.   Do you have a favorite bag style? I have been a slave to the clutch and tote but I think this style might be my new go-to bag. It fits all of my necessary items and is fabulously chic, and perfect for fall!

3 Ways to Wear Printed Pants

Whenever I see a pair of patterned pants in a store, many thoughts run through my head.   I want them!  I need them!   Will they make my hips look wider?  What will I wear with them?  The whole experience can be a bit overwhelming and in the end, the same thing always happens, I never buy them.  Most of the time, I never even try them on to give them a shot.  This has to end because I desperately want a pair of patterned pants for my wardrobe.  My style is classic minimalist, so I tend to stick to solid colors with an occasional stripped print every now and then.  I am not proud of this; I would like to venture out of my comfort zone more and try bold and daring prints.  So, now all that is left to do is to find the perfect pair of printed pants and style them accordingly.  These are a few things to keep in mind before wearing a pair of bold pants:

  1. The silhouette is everything.  I suggest a cigarette pant opposed to wide legged pants or culottes.  You want to have as little fabric as possible so that the pattern isn’t as overwhelming.  Proportions are everything.  Make sure if you do wear a wider leg, keep the top structured or tucked in.
  2. Tie your whole outfit together by choosing one color within the print and match it with your top.  This way you will have a color coordinated outfit that will look more complete and polished.  This can also pertain to your shoes and bag.
  3. Don’t go crazy with mixing and matching prints.  Keep it simple by wearing a solid color top.  Once you get comfortable, ease in by mixing the print with a striped top.  The important thing about wearing one or more prints is to make sure that you wear them rather them wearing you.  You don’t want your outfit to look too busy.  However, in order to embrace the playfulness of the pant, try a chunky necklace for a glamorous touch.

When putting together today’s style guide, I took all three of these tips into consideration.  Here are two/three outfits that I hope will inspire you to wear printed pants with confidence.

Spring Shopping Wish List

Is it just me or does anyone else feel happier these days?  It cannot be a coincidence that my mood has changed now that it’s become warmer outside.  With winter on its way out, it’s time to do a bit of spring-cleaning.  By that, I mean throwing out what you don’t like in your closet and replacing them with all new things.  Have you started shopping the spring collections yet?  I have begun my research and, I’ve got to say, there are a lot of things out there that I want.  In fact, it is a bit overwhelming.  In the beginning of every season, I start things off by making a mood board of things that I want to purchase.  This is the best way to keep yourself organized and have a plan on what to shop for.  This will really help keep you from impulse shopping.  Now, I am totally guilty of this, but you want to add things that will complement your wardrobe and that are true to your personal style.  Your clothes tell a story, so a way to elevate your style is to make sure that there is cohesion in your wardrobe.  A mood board helps with this because you can really see what colors and silhouettes will work with each other.  Without further ado, today I am sharing with you my spring shopping wish list. There is an abundant amount of flowy dresses, patterned skirts and pants, heeled sandals, and lightweight jackets, all of which comes in soft hues and refreshing patterns.  My love for stripes and floral prints hasn’t changed.  In addition, I am obsessed with neutral and pastel colors.  I was able to make a nice selection that I think covers the bases. I can’t wait to hear what you think and if it will inspire your spring shopping!

Wear Now & Later

Spring is creeping around the corner, and no one is happier about it than I am. Now, I know, we had a very mild winter, but there is nothing better than taking long walks outside, flowers blooming, and longer days. While we wait for warmer days, we need to start getting our closets prepared for a new season of fashion. All of your favorite stores are currently selling spring collections and this is the best time to shop. If you start shopping now, you’ll be sure to have a bigger selection and more sizes available to you. The only problem is that, at least where I live, it’s not quite warm enough to wear the newer clothes. March can still be cool and, as much as you want to wear lighter layers, you can’t just yet. However, I am so sick of turtlenecks, heavy coats, and tights. All I want to wear are my new purchases. That is why I am bringing back one of my favorite stories, Now vs. Later. This is when I choose three items that I love wearing for spring that, when paired well, can work for winter too. We are in that annoying transitional time of year when one day it’s hot and the next day it’s cold. The only way to survive is by layering, and I’ve become a pro at it.

WHITE JEANS

White jeans are my favorite because they can be paired with any color and style top. I really can’t wait any longer to wear them, so, before it gets warm, pair these jeans with a chunky sweater and your favorite jacket. Then, when the weather changes, wear it with a light blouse and sandals for a softer look.

Wear Now & Later

1. H&M – Melange Sweater | 2. Asos – Duffle Bag | 3. TopShop – White Jeans | 4. Jules Smith – Earrings | 5. Charles & Keith – Booties

Wear Now & Later

1. Mango – Printed Blouse | 2. Gigi New York – Kelly Saddle Bag | 3. TopShop – White Jeans | 4. Allison Cole Jewelry – Nautical Rope Bracelet | 5. Vince Camuto – Tarita Sandal

GINGHAM DRESS
I recently bought this dress and I want to start wearing it as soon as possible. For the now outfit I styled it with a heavy coat, scarf, and booties. This will make you more comfortable until you can ditch the layers for flats and a lighter trench. If you’re still in need of layers, try wearing it over a light turtleneck.

Wear Now & Later

1. H&M – Jacket | 2. Charles & Keith – Slouchy Bag | 3. Madewell – Checked Shirt Dress | 4. Humble Chic – Infinity Scarf | 5. Nine West – Bootie

Wear Now & Later

1. Kate Spade New York – Square Studs | 2. Zara – City Bag | 3. Madewell – Checked Shirt Dress | 4. H&M – Trenchcoat | 5. Asos – Tie Up Flats

MIDI SKIRT

I love this floral midi skirt from Zara and I have a feeling that this won’t be its last appearance on the blog. There are so many different ways I want to wear this for spring: with a blouse, flats, heels, a chambray shirt. The list just goes on and on. But, in the meantime, a sweater or turtleneck would look great with it. I suggest you find some rich colors for some contrast, either with a navy bag or chocolate brown booties.

Wear Now & Later

1. Mango – Turtleneck | 2. Gigi New York – Chelsea Crossbody | 3. Zara – Floral Print Skirt | 4. Jules Smith – Earrings | 5. Louise et Cie – Vianne Bootie

3 Ways To Wear A Turtleneck

Turtlenecks will never go out of style. In fact, now that fashion trends are taking a book out of the 70’s, turtlenecks are having a major moment. I, for one, am not in love with the 70’s trend. Yes I’m the one, but I am a lover of this sweater because of how practical it is and for its effortlessly chic style. Now that it’s February, a turtleneck is a very necessary item to wear, but you don’t want to get bored with it. Mix it up by tucking one into a midi skirt or layer it underneath a sleeveless dress. No matter how you style it, one thing is for sure, the turtleneck is incredibly comfy and cozy thing to wear. Whether you’re wearing a chunky turtleneck to stay warm or a sleeveless mock for a more sophisticated look, there are many different styles out there to try. Below are three different outfits to show you how to wear the turtleneck to stay warm this winter.

OVERSIZED

Really, who doesn’t love a chunky turtleneck? It’s basically a fashionable blanket with sleeves. Who wouldn’t want to wear that around all day? With this outfit, I paired the turtleneck with a mini skirt. You don’t want to wear an oversized sweater with wide legged pants. Instead, a mini skirt provides structure and balance.

SWEATER DRESS

I love wearing dresses and sometimes, during the cold months, they aren’t a very practical idea. However, thanks to this turtleneck style, you can wear a dress no matter how cold it is. Just make sure you pair it with tights so your legs stay nice and warm. Pair this turtleneck dress with a tote for the office or a clutch for happy hour. Either way, wear it with heels for a polished look.

TUCKED IN

Speaking of wide legged pants, they are a great complement to a turtleneck. The best way to pull off this style is to choose a lighter weight sweater and tuck it into these pants. Remember, a sleek turtleneck works best for layering. By tucking in a lightweight turtleneck, you can elongate your neck and arms, which will be very flattering to your figure. In addition to pants, you can also tuck a turtleneck into a midi skirt or under a sleeveless dress. But this outfit is probably my favorite.

Currently Coveting: Black & White Stripes

Summer and stripes go together like peanut butter and jelly. They are a classic fashion statement that will never go out of style. One reason why we may gravitate towards stripes is because they remind us of how French women dress. What woman doesn’t want to be mistaken for a Parisian? Stripes are a very simple and flattering print to wear; you really can’t go wrong with them. When it comes to summertime, most of us gravitate towards the nautical look. Whether you are vacationing at the Cape or home in the city, wearing navy and white stripes is a summer must! Now, I was going to do a nautical Fourth of July post, but I had a baby instead. So, I have decided instead that I would explore a different side to stripes. Most of us shy away from black over the summer. After a long winter of wearing dark and dreary hues, you want to dress in bright colorful prints. I am here to tell you that black has just as much of a place in the warmer months as it does when it’s cold. I believe that black and white stripes are just as chic and sophisticated as the nautical navy and white version. I promise you won’t look like a referee! Instead, you will look polished and put together, which is all we can hope to achieve when it’s disgustingly humid out. Need a little more encouragement? Below are three ways I have paired black and white stripes together. Wear any of these outfits, and you will be mistaken for a street style pro!

Color Crush: Blush

In the summertime, I always gravitate to lightweight, pale-colored clothing.   This season is no different because I have a serious crush on blush. It is a perfect color for summer, even though I wear it all-year round, because it is a soft, light, and feminine color. When it is super hot outside, you don’t want to be in a dark color, and blush is a great way to cool things down. It has been a very popular color for the past couple of seasons and it is not losing steam anytime soon. With most pink hues, you run the risk of looking too Elle Woods or like a bottle of Pepto Bismol. However, blush is such a subtle version of pink that you can’t go wrong with either wearing it as an accent or the star. When styling your favorite blush pieces, keep in mind that it works well paired with navy, white, nude, or grey. If you love blush but don’t want to look too girly, try pairing it with a darker hue like navy or brown; it really changes the look. My last color crush was all about wearing white head-to-toe. I know that some of my readers didn’t like the idea of it, so wearing an all blush ensemble is a great compromise. If I can’t convince you, maybe these fabulous styles can? In this roundup, I have selected a few items that have been on my wish list for a while now. That’s no surprise though; I am currently very attracted to this color and believe that it should be on your top of your list for summer fashion must-haves!
