Currently Coveting: Fashionable Activewear

Ever since I’ve had my son, my life has changed for all of the obvious reasons.  One of these changes that have struggled with is my daily wardrobe. I used to wear dresses and skirts every day but that no longer suits my lifestyle.  Lately, I have found that activewear is the most comfortable thing to wear throughout the day.  Luckily for me, there are a lot of brands out there designing fitness clothes to be as fashionable as they are functional.  Now it is really easy to find cute pieces that you won’t mind being seen in outside of the gym.  For you non-moms out there, this stylish clothing has benefits to you as well.  It has become trendy as friends and co-workers have ditched the bar and instead exercise together.  Now, post workouts, a juice or acai bowl has become the new cocktail hour.  Not only are these clothes perfect for hanging out after your class, but also they’re perfect for the gym itself.  Who wants to workout in drab boring clothes?  If you’re wearing a neon shirt or colorful printed pants, it’ll only motivate you more while exercising.  Gone are the days of wearing stretched-out spandex and ratty old tee shirts; it is time to up your game.  The best part of any trend is that once it is popular, everyone starts to make it.  When you have baby and you only feel like wearing sweats, it’s really nice to have a lot of options.  I just want to get through my busy day in comfortable clothes without looking like a slob.  Since I love fashion, I want to make sure that no matter what I am wearing I feel good in it.  So, I did some research and found chic clothes perfect for running after a baby or sweating it out at the gym. Whichever you need activewear for in your life, I hope these styles inspire you.

Every Wednesday I post what I am currently coveting and I would love to hear from you what you’re interested in finding.  You never know, I may feature it in the future!

Style Guide: Winter Layers

Baby it’s cold outside!  During these winter months, it can be difficult to put a stylish outfit together.  All we want is to be warm, and one way you can achieve that is with layers.  Wear a blouse underneath your chunky or cropped sweater to keep you warm without adding too much bulk.  Another tip is to play with color.  As much as I love all-black outfits, color will help brighten you mood when the gray days start to get to you.  Today’s style guide offers all of these things and more.  Try this these teal wool pants and plaid sweater and have fun playing around with colors and patterns.  Instead of wearing the same old black coat, try this heather grey hue for a lighter look.  Turn winter into your favorite fashion season by playing around with layers, colors, and prints.  You can start with this style guide!

Style Guide: Winter Layers

1. H&M – Dress Shirt | 2. Club Monaco – Darci Hat | 3. BaubleBar – Mariposa Ear Jackets | 4. Mango – Check Sweater | 5. J.Crew – Minnie Pant | 6. Dorothy Perkins – Grey Belted Coat | 7. Gigi New York – All in One Bag | 8. DV by Dolce Vita – Katin Boot

Chic Outfits for Thanksgiving Day

It is almost hard to believe that Thanksgiving is a week away.  I, for one, could not be more excited.  Not only is it my favorite holiday, but it kicks off a fabulous month of holiday festivities.  Before Christmas madness begins, it’s a wonderful day to be with family and friends while eating mass amounts of stuffing and pumpkin pie.  This year, I will be heading to Washington DC to spend time with my husband’s family.  It’ll be nice to get out of the city for a couple of days and recharge the batteries.  As much as I enjoy being a guest, I look forward to the day when I get to be the hostess.  What about you; how will you be celebrating this year?

No matter what your plans are, you will need a warm, cozy, and stylish outfit to wear.  A lot of you may take the casual approach to the day.  After all, you may be cooking all day, playing football outside, or napping from a turkey coma.   I happen to love dressing up no matter what the vibe may be.  If you can’t wear a nice dress on a day of celebration then when can you?  I am sure you all have your preference for dressing up or down, which is why I have put together a few chic outfits that will be perfect for Thanksgiving Day.

Currently Coveting: Lace

Right now I am all about lace! I don’t know if it is the impending holiday season, or the cold weather that brings it out in me, but I can’t get enough of it. For the cold weather, I love pairing delicate lace with my cozy knitwear for a softer look. With holiday festivities approaching, a lace dress is a lovely option to be both a festive and romantic style. Pair it with velvet ant you’ll really make a statement.  Whether you wear lace head to toe, or as a peek-a-boo accent, it will elevate your look.  See my collage of my favorite lace pieces that I cannot wait to have in my closet.

How To Transition Summer Pieces to Fall

So you recently bought a dress that you love, but now that we are approaching fall, you don’t know how to style it.  When I shop, I try not to purchase for a season; I want to make sure that I get as much out of my investment as possible.  You may think that it’s time to store away your summer wardrobe, but you’re wrong.  There is still life left in your summer staples; the key to making it work is layering.   Take this flowy and lightweight dress from H&M.  It has been a great piece to wear on a warm day, but by adding a leather moto and booties, I am ready for the cooler weather.   If a jacket or scarf isn’t enough for you, try wearing a turtleneck or sweater underneath the dress.  This way, you have added sleeves and can really get the most out of one piece.  Being creative with your clothes is fun, practical, and more cost effective.  To help make a smooth transition between seasons, pair your summer pieces with rich colors, bold prints, and more coverage.  The weather is unpredictable, so it’s important to be prepared and stylish no matter what the day brings. What summer purchases are you most excited to transition into fall?

Now vs. Later Style: Summer

1. Stella & Dot – Fiona Bib Necklace | 2. Sole Society – Denver Slingback Heel | 3. H&M – Pink Sleeveless Dress | 4. Asos – Aviator Sunglasses | 5. BaubleBar – Vertebrae Quad Ring | 6. Vince Camuto – Molly Tote (on sale)

Now vs. Later Style: Fall

1. Renee’s Accessories – Dip Dye Plaid Eternity Scarf | 2. C.Wonder – Reverse Stud & Pearl Cuff | 3. 10 Crosby  – Ynez Bootie | 4. H&M – Pink Sleeveless Dress | 5. Mango – Leather Moto Jacket | 6. Coach – Classic Leather Shoulder Purse

Workout Clothes for the Gym and Beyond

The days of going to the gym in old worn out clothes are dead and gone.  It all started when working out became trendy with specialty classes like CrossFit and SoulCycle.  The key to achieving the perfect workout style is to find a balance between functionality and fashion. When choosing what to wear, we are drawn to bright colors, bold designs, and something suitable to wear out in public.  Of course, there is nothing wrong with flying under the radar in an all black ensemble, but going to the gym should be fun, so a brighter outfit is more uplifting.  Feeling good in your fitness attire will only give you more confidence and the motivation you need during your workout to help you reach your goals.  Looking good once you leave the gym can be achieved with the newly designed fitness attire.  It is becoming a trend to attend classes in groups, which leads to post workout juice and salad dates.  In order to go from the gym to a social activity without changing your clothes, you need to feel confident in what you are wearing.  It is hard enough to find time in our busy schedules to get to the gym.  That is why the pressure of looking put-together after a class should not stress you out.  I’m always on the hunt for chic workout clothes that can be worn beyond the gym.  That is why I have gathered a few stylish options that will meet your fitness and fashion needs.

Weekly Finds

Untitled drawing (1)

August has always been an odd month for me.  It means that summer is coming to an end and, before we know it, we’ll be looking for Halloween costumes, cooking for Thanksgiving dinner, and buying Christmas gifts!  I know that I may sound a bit dramatic, but we need to hold onto what’s left of summer and make it count! It is very important to get as much rest and relaxation as possible.   We have all fall and winter to get serious and ready to hibernate again.  I have been away so much this summer that I have barely gotten to enjoy the city.  This weekend, I am making it my personal goal to pick one neighborhood in New York City and spend the day there.  I want to go shopping in one-of-a-kind boutiques, visit coffee shops, eat lunch outdoors in the sun, and stroll through a park or along the Hudson River.  All of these things sound so simple but, because I’ve been away so much this summer, I’ve hardly had a chance to do the simple things.  Next week I will report back to you on this mini adventure and hope that inspires you to go beyond your usual stomping grounds before the cold weather returns.  In the meantime, I’d love to hear what’s on deck for you this weekend!  If anything, find a way to relax and enjoy the sun!
