Sandals for Spring and Summer

Sandals for Spring and Summer

Every time spring rolls around I make the same proclamation, “I don’t own any sandals!”   I love shoes, but when it comes to sandals, I just don’t wear them all year round, thus they are near the bottom on my shopping list.   When the weather warms up, as it always does, I break out a summery dress, and then I get upset when I don’t have a casual flat to wear with it.  In the past, I put off purchasing sandals because living in the city they get destroyed easily.  Replacing my broken and worn out sandals every year has gotten exhausting.   They are essential for your spring/summer wardrobe.  That is why I have decided to start my sandal shopping now before the warm weather arrives.  This way I won’t put it off and forget about them until Labor Day. Sandals are only worn for such a short time, not to mention that they don’t last as long as other styles, so I don’t want to spend a lot of money.  Today, I have rounded up my favorites and I have got to say I am really inspired by what I’ve seen so far!   I am often drawn to cognac, tan, and nude because it goes with so much of my wardrobe.  However, I found a few in bold colors because I think it looks great with white jeans or a summery LWD.  If you want to jazz up your outfit, but still want to wear sandals, go for metallic.  It will make your look dressed up and chic.  I focused my search on flat sandals.  I do love a heel, but for this post, I wanted to focus on the everyday casual footwear.  So, if you’re looking for new sandals, or you can’t stop buying them, then there is a shoe here for you!

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

This Sunday is a really special day for me. As a new mom, it is my very first Mother’s Day. Now that I have joined this elite club, I can give even better insight on what gift to give your mom. If your mom is like mine, then she doesn’t really need anything from me, but it is always nice to give her a gift to remind her how much you care about her. If you’re buying for a new mom, anything that ties her to her baby is a great gift. A picture frame with a special captured moment would put a smile on her face. For any mom, monogramming is a great way to go. It’s personalized and shows you care. Other fun ideas that I have featured on this gift guide are gardening gloves, a fit-bit bracelet, and of course, a Diptyque candle. I feel that it’s wrong to have a gift guide without a Diptyque candle, and as always, fresh flowers and her favorite bottle of champagne are perfect. Anything that can be shared between the two of you is a good choice as well. Whatever you choose for your mom, as long as it comes from the heart, she’ll be sure to love it!

Shopping Guide For Your Little One

Every new season I update my wardrobe. Now that I have a baby that means I get to do the same with his. For this shopaholic, that makes me very happy. There are so many adorable styles out there right now for your little one. All of my favorite places to shop for children’s clothes have an abundance of fashionable styles like shorts, dresses, overalls, bodysuits, swimwear, and accessories to match. The clothes come in so many vibrant and playful colors and patterns. I don’t even know where to start so I decided to round up my favorites. For you moms out there with a girl, I did a bit of research for you as well. All I have to say is there are a lot of adorable dresses and rompers out there. My favorite finds have to be the fedora and sunnies. Is there anything cuter than a baby in sunglasses? I don’t think so! The only thing I am not so sure about is sizing. My boy may be outgrowing the 6-12 month window but 18-month clothes look huge on him. If any moms are out there, I’d love to hear your opinions on the matter.

If you are currently a bit overwhelmed with all of the options out there, I have put together a few of my top choices. Your baby will be the most stylish kid on the playground this spring.

Florals for Spring

I know, I know, a story about floral prints for spring isn’t exactly groundbreaking.  But when it comes to spring, it’s really quite unavoidable.  Most people either love or hate them.  If you are in the latter camp, spring must be a very difficult time for you to shop.  There is a reason why floral prints are everywhere.  Florals are a classic design, and it is in the springtime where they really shine.  It’s not like it’s expected of us to wear them.  However, with beautiful colorful flowers blooming everywhere, it’s hard not to draw inspiration from them.  Now, there are some who deem the print to be boring and unoriginal.  I completely disagree and think, instead, that wearing them really embraces the season.  I love florals because they are feminine, pretty, and sophisticated.  You can go bold with a large abstract style, or soft with a smaller variation.  If you aren’t a fan but want to give them a try, pick a scarf with a floral pattern and ease your way in.  Before you know it, you’ll be wearing a dress covered in floral designs with matching shoes!  So, when you are doing your spring shopping, seriously keep florals in mind.  If you’re looking for some inspiration, hopefully these pieces will make you fall in love with the print all over again.  I made sure there was something here for all of your shopping needs!

Spring Shoe Trends: Pointed Flats

I’m sure that there is more than one woman out there that admits to owning one too many pairs of shoes.  We all have our favorite styles, which is why I have a dozen booties.  One style I am seriously lacking at the moment is flats. You may not know this about me, but I have very long and narrow feet.  It can be hard for me to break in flats but, once I find ones that I love, I wear them to their breaking point.  Unfortunately at the moment, all of my favorites are too stretched out to wear and I am in the annoying situation of having to find new ones.  That brings us to today’s post.  Spring is the time to take those flats out of storage.  There is a plethora of fabulous designs that come in many different colors and patterns.  Flats are no longer your high heels’ sad little sister; these spring flats are on point and hold their own next to your sexiest pump.  I, for one, love the pointed style because they are sophisticated, chic, and comfy.  With these shoes you do not need heels to dress up an outfit.  Wear them with a flirty dress, skinny jeans, or a midi skirt.  The different outfit options are endless and I cannot wait to wear them all spring and summer long.  I rounded up my ten favorites and I can’t wait to hear from you which ones I should get.

Spring Shopping Wish List

Is it just me or does anyone else feel happier these days?  It cannot be a coincidence that my mood has changed now that it’s become warmer outside.  With winter on its way out, it’s time to do a bit of spring-cleaning.  By that, I mean throwing out what you don’t like in your closet and replacing them with all new things.  Have you started shopping the spring collections yet?  I have begun my research and, I’ve got to say, there are a lot of things out there that I want.  In fact, it is a bit overwhelming.  In the beginning of every season, I start things off by making a mood board of things that I want to purchase.  This is the best way to keep yourself organized and have a plan on what to shop for.  This will really help keep you from impulse shopping.  Now, I am totally guilty of this, but you want to add things that will complement your wardrobe and that are true to your personal style.  Your clothes tell a story, so a way to elevate your style is to make sure that there is cohesion in your wardrobe.  A mood board helps with this because you can really see what colors and silhouettes will work with each other.  Without further ado, today I am sharing with you my spring shopping wish list. There is an abundant amount of flowy dresses, patterned skirts and pants, heeled sandals, and lightweight jackets, all of which comes in soft hues and refreshing patterns.  My love for stripes and floral prints hasn’t changed.  In addition, I am obsessed with neutral and pastel colors.  I was able to make a nice selection that I think covers the bases. I can’t wait to hear what you think and if it will inspire your spring shopping!

A Few of My Favorite Things for March

A Few of My Favorite Things For March

It’s March!!!!!!!! This means that, even if it’s still cool out, we have gotten through the dreary boring winter months. Put away your puffy coat because March is all about getting ready for spring to arrive.   Flowers will be starting to bloom and trench coats will be the new outerwear of choice. As for me, there will be some traveling back and forth from New York to California. I am looking forward to spending more time outside with the little one; being cooped up in a tiny apartment with a baby is not fun. But now that it’s warming up, not only will I be outside more but I will be getting ready for spring fashions. I’m just now starting my spring shopping so stay tuned for a month full of stories about what to wear and do this month.

WHAT TO WEAR: It should be no surprise to you that I will be posting a lot of style guides focusing on spring fashions. After all, a new season is very exciting for us shopaholics and, I think, we should start now by browsing for a new trench coat.

INSPIRATION: I get most of my style inspiration from street style pictures and my fellow bloggers.  A new season of fashion can be a bit overwhelming.  That is why I like to create a mood board with images I have found in magazines or on blogs.  It really helps to keep the ideas organized and to be your very own stylist. Don’t forget that Pinterest is also a great way to compile these images; just make sure you’re following me.

GET ORGANIZED: March is a great time to do a little spring-cleaning!  This may be a dreaded event for some, but it’s a great way to clean out the clutter, get rid of that sparkly top you’ve had since your club days, and get organized.  If you need some help getting started, check out this article I did for tips on doing it right.

WHAT TO DO: Like I said, being stuck indoors during the wintery months can be brutal. That is why, when the weather starts getting warmer, all you want to be is outside.  Here are fun activities that are being held this month in the city that you can enjoy with your friends, significant other, or family!

IN BLOOM: I absolutely love flowers and, even though I’m allergic to a lot of them, it’s wonderful to have fresh flowers in my home. I thought it could be fun to take a class in floral arranging like this one.
