Sandals for Spring and Summer

Sandals for Spring and Summer

Every time spring rolls around I make the same proclamation, “I don’t own any sandals!”   I love shoes, but when it comes to sandals, I just don’t wear them all year round, thus they are near the bottom on my shopping list.   When the weather warms up, as it always does, I break out a summery dress, and then I get upset when I don’t have a casual flat to wear with it.  In the past, I put off purchasing sandals because living in the city they get destroyed easily.  Replacing my broken and worn out sandals every year has gotten exhausting.   They are essential for your spring/summer wardrobe.  That is why I have decided to start my sandal shopping now before the warm weather arrives.  This way I won’t put it off and forget about them until Labor Day. Sandals are only worn for such a short time, not to mention that they don’t last as long as other styles, so I don’t want to spend a lot of money.  Today, I have rounded up my favorites and I have got to say I am really inspired by what I’ve seen so far!   I am often drawn to cognac, tan, and nude because it goes with so much of my wardrobe.  However, I found a few in bold colors because I think it looks great with white jeans or a summery LWD.  If you want to jazz up your outfit, but still want to wear sandals, go for metallic.  It will make your look dressed up and chic.  I focused my search on flat sandals.  I do love a heel, but for this post, I wanted to focus on the everyday casual footwear.  So, if you’re looking for new sandals, or you can’t stop buying them, then there is a shoe here for you!

Currently Coveting: Embroidered Detail

There is something about the warmer weather that makes me gravitate towards festive patterns and fabrics.  I have always had a soft spot for embroidered garments, and there is no better time to wear them during the spring/summer season.  Blouses, skirts, and dresses all etched with detailed designs make me smile.  Often times when you think of embroidery, it conjures up visions of your grandmother’s furniture.  However, recently designers have taken a more modern approach and incorporated this art form into their collections in a youthful way.  A lot of times the embroidery is created on loose fitting garments.  While I rarely wear boho inspired clothing, there is something about these flowy decorated styles that look lovely.  Most of the pieces that I found had floral designs. I also loved the flamingo shoes below.  There are a lot of fun ways to wear this trend.  For one, embroidery on a white shirt or blouse really elevates the look.  Secondly, I love to carry embroidered bags.  It’s a fun way to bring color and texture to your outfit.  I will definitely be giving this trend a try this season, but first I needed to round up my favorites to decide how I’ll be wearing it.  Which one of these do you want to add to your spring/summer wardrobe?

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

This Sunday is a really special day for me. As a new mom, it is my very first Mother’s Day. Now that I have joined this elite club, I can give even better insight on what gift to give your mom. If your mom is like mine, then she doesn’t really need anything from me, but it is always nice to give her a gift to remind her how much you care about her. If you’re buying for a new mom, anything that ties her to her baby is a great gift. A picture frame with a special captured moment would put a smile on her face. For any mom, monogramming is a great way to go. It’s personalized and shows you care. Other fun ideas that I have featured on this gift guide are gardening gloves, a fit-bit bracelet, and of course, a Diptyque candle. I feel that it’s wrong to have a gift guide without a Diptyque candle, and as always, fresh flowers and her favorite bottle of champagne are perfect. Anything that can be shared between the two of you is a good choice as well. Whatever you choose for your mom, as long as it comes from the heart, she’ll be sure to love it!

Trend Alert: Off the Shoulder

Celebrate the warm season by baring a bit of skin.  What better way to do that than to embrace the latest spring trend: off the shoulder?  This style first made its appearance last year, and now a year later, the look has exploded and it’s everywhere.  I am not sure that the off the shoulder look is for me, but that doesn’t mean I’m not curious.  I have decided to dedicate today’s style guide to the latest craze to see what all of the fuss is about.  One of the things about an off the shoulder outfit is that it’s a bit sexy, but if done right, it can be easy going.  You can wear one anywhere, including the work place.  I know what you’re thinking.  Isn’t this top too suggestive for work?  As long as you cover up your bare shoulders with a blazer, it’ll be appropriate for any occasion.  Personally, I am loving an off the shoulder dress for the weekend.  It has a very bohemian look that I can get behind.  This leads me to a very helpful tip for you.  To me, this trend looks best in a looser silhouette. If you want to a different vibe, make sure you stick to form fitting options for evenings out.  The more I researched this style, the more I loved it.  I highly suggest you check it out.  If you need more inspiration, these three outfits should point you in the right direction.  What do you think?  Will you be trying out this trend for spring?

Shopping Guide For Your Little One

Every new season I update my wardrobe. Now that I have a baby that means I get to do the same with his. For this shopaholic, that makes me very happy. There are so many adorable styles out there right now for your little one. All of my favorite places to shop for children’s clothes have an abundance of fashionable styles like shorts, dresses, overalls, bodysuits, swimwear, and accessories to match. The clothes come in so many vibrant and playful colors and patterns. I don’t even know where to start so I decided to round up my favorites. For you moms out there with a girl, I did a bit of research for you as well. All I have to say is there are a lot of adorable dresses and rompers out there. My favorite finds have to be the fedora and sunnies. Is there anything cuter than a baby in sunglasses? I don’t think so! The only thing I am not so sure about is sizing. My boy may be outgrowing the 6-12 month window but 18-month clothes look huge on him. If any moms are out there, I’d love to hear your opinions on the matter.

If you are currently a bit overwhelmed with all of the options out there, I have put together a few of my top choices. Your baby will be the most stylish kid on the playground this spring.

12 Dresses for Spring

After a long winter of covering up, it’s that glorious time of year when we can wear dresses with bare legs!  It’s a liberating feeling that I cannot wait to experience.  Every girl needs that secret style weapon she can use when she needs to look her best.  For me that is a dress!  There is nothing out there that makes me feel as good as I do when I have a dress on.  I wear them year round, even when it’s below zero outside.  Of course I get the most enjoyment out of the style when it’s warmer.  To me, there is nothing more freeing then wearing a dress.  It definitely puts an extra pep in my step and my confidence soars.  Not only is it comfortable, when it is accessorized properly, it is appropriate for work, nightlife, and chic events.  Basically, it is the most versatile piece that I have in my closet, and it’s a rare day when I’m not wearing one.  In my opinion, everyone needs a throw-on-and-go dress.  It’s an easy, one-piece outfit that you can just throw on when you need to leave the house in a pinch.  Not only are dresses easy to wear, but also the style options are endless due to the variety of silhouettes, patterns, and colors.  You can find a dress that is sexy, edgy, feminine, sophisticated, or casual.  There is a style for anyone to embrace, rock, and love.  You just need to discover the dress of your dreams, and I suggest that you start with these fabulous finds.  I am always on the lookout for new dresses, so it wasn’t hard for me to do the research for this post.  Now that it is spring, there are so many choices out there for any and all occasions.  As for me, I am looking for a great weekend worthy shift dress that is casual but not frumpy.  Happy shopping and I can’t wait to hear from you which of these is your favorite!

Florals for Spring

I know, I know, a story about floral prints for spring isn’t exactly groundbreaking.  But when it comes to spring, it’s really quite unavoidable.  Most people either love or hate them.  If you are in the latter camp, spring must be a very difficult time for you to shop.  There is a reason why floral prints are everywhere.  Florals are a classic design, and it is in the springtime where they really shine.  It’s not like it’s expected of us to wear them.  However, with beautiful colorful flowers blooming everywhere, it’s hard not to draw inspiration from them.  Now, there are some who deem the print to be boring and unoriginal.  I completely disagree and think, instead, that wearing them really embraces the season.  I love florals because they are feminine, pretty, and sophisticated.  You can go bold with a large abstract style, or soft with a smaller variation.  If you aren’t a fan but want to give them a try, pick a scarf with a floral pattern and ease your way in.  Before you know it, you’ll be wearing a dress covered in floral designs with matching shoes!  So, when you are doing your spring shopping, seriously keep florals in mind.  If you’re looking for some inspiration, hopefully these pieces will make you fall in love with the print all over again.  I made sure there was something here for all of your shopping needs!
