Currently Coveting: Colorful Jewels

Accessories are probably one of my favorite parts of putting together an outfit.  You can wear something really simple and jazz it up with accessories to make it shine.  When it comes to jewelry, I go through stages of what different styles I prefer to wear.  Some seasons I wear only delicate pieces, whereas the next season I am all about costume jewelry.  This summer, I am obsessed with the latter.  Large chunky colorful jewels are my go-to right now, and, I got to say, they are the perfect summer look.  For me, a little white dress is practically my summer uniform.  You will definitely make a splash pairing these colorful baubles with a LWD.   Unlike the winter, when it’s hot out, we tend to wear less clothing.  When it’s colder we pile on layers and costume jewelry can be too overwhelming.  Whereas when you wear less, your accessories can really stand out.  I have a lot of favorite jewelry brands this season.  One absolute favorite is Loren Hope.  I am in love with her vibrant colored jewels.  Other standouts are of course BaubleBar and a new favorite is Peyton Williams.  I have rounded up what I am really lusting after.  I may have a few of these items in my shopping cart as we speak.  I hope you find the jewel of your dreams here.

Florals for Spring

I know, I know, a story about floral prints for spring isn’t exactly groundbreaking.  But when it comes to spring, it’s really quite unavoidable.  Most people either love or hate them.  If you are in the latter camp, spring must be a very difficult time for you to shop.  There is a reason why floral prints are everywhere.  Florals are a classic design, and it is in the springtime where they really shine.  It’s not like it’s expected of us to wear them.  However, with beautiful colorful flowers blooming everywhere, it’s hard not to draw inspiration from them.  Now, there are some who deem the print to be boring and unoriginal.  I completely disagree and think, instead, that wearing them really embraces the season.  I love florals because they are feminine, pretty, and sophisticated.  You can go bold with a large abstract style, or soft with a smaller variation.  If you aren’t a fan but want to give them a try, pick a scarf with a floral pattern and ease your way in.  Before you know it, you’ll be wearing a dress covered in floral designs with matching shoes!  So, when you are doing your spring shopping, seriously keep florals in mind.  If you’re looking for some inspiration, hopefully these pieces will make you fall in love with the print all over again.  I made sure there was something here for all of your shopping needs!

3 Ways To Wear A Turtleneck

Turtlenecks will never go out of style. In fact, now that fashion trends are taking a book out of the 70’s, turtlenecks are having a major moment. I, for one, am not in love with the 70’s trend. Yes I’m the one, but I am a lover of this sweater because of how practical it is and for its effortlessly chic style. Now that it’s February, a turtleneck is a very necessary item to wear, but you don’t want to get bored with it. Mix it up by tucking one into a midi skirt or layer it underneath a sleeveless dress. No matter how you style it, one thing is for sure, the turtleneck is incredibly comfy and cozy thing to wear. Whether you’re wearing a chunky turtleneck to stay warm or a sleeveless mock for a more sophisticated look, there are many different styles out there to try. Below are three different outfits to show you how to wear the turtleneck to stay warm this winter.

OVERSIZED

Really, who doesn’t love a chunky turtleneck? It’s basically a fashionable blanket with sleeves. Who wouldn’t want to wear that around all day? With this outfit, I paired the turtleneck with a mini skirt. You don’t want to wear an oversized sweater with wide legged pants. Instead, a mini skirt provides structure and balance.

SWEATER DRESS

I love wearing dresses and sometimes, during the cold months, they aren’t a very practical idea. However, thanks to this turtleneck style, you can wear a dress no matter how cold it is. Just make sure you pair it with tights so your legs stay nice and warm. Pair this turtleneck dress with a tote for the office or a clutch for happy hour. Either way, wear it with heels for a polished look.

TUCKED IN

Speaking of wide legged pants, they are a great complement to a turtleneck. The best way to pull off this style is to choose a lighter weight sweater and tuck it into these pants. Remember, a sleek turtleneck works best for layering. By tucking in a lightweight turtleneck, you can elongate your neck and arms, which will be very flattering to your figure. In addition to pants, you can also tuck a turtleneck into a midi skirt or under a sleeveless dress. But this outfit is probably my favorite.

Currently Coveting: Fashionable Activewear

Ever since I’ve had my son, my life has changed for all of the obvious reasons.  One of these changes that have struggled with is my daily wardrobe. I used to wear dresses and skirts every day but that no longer suits my lifestyle.  Lately, I have found that activewear is the most comfortable thing to wear throughout the day.  Luckily for me, there are a lot of brands out there designing fitness clothes to be as fashionable as they are functional.  Now it is really easy to find cute pieces that you won’t mind being seen in outside of the gym.  For you non-moms out there, this stylish clothing has benefits to you as well.  It has become trendy as friends and co-workers have ditched the bar and instead exercise together.  Now, post workouts, a juice or acai bowl has become the new cocktail hour.  Not only are these clothes perfect for hanging out after your class, but also they’re perfect for the gym itself.  Who wants to workout in drab boring clothes?  If you’re wearing a neon shirt or colorful printed pants, it’ll only motivate you more while exercising.  Gone are the days of wearing stretched-out spandex and ratty old tee shirts; it is time to up your game.  The best part of any trend is that once it is popular, everyone starts to make it.  When you have baby and you only feel like wearing sweats, it’s really nice to have a lot of options.  I just want to get through my busy day in comfortable clothes without looking like a slob.  Since I love fashion, I want to make sure that no matter what I am wearing I feel good in it.  So, I did some research and found chic clothes perfect for running after a baby or sweating it out at the gym. Whichever you need activewear for in your life, I hope these styles inspire you.

Every Wednesday I post what I am currently coveting and I would love to hear from you what you’re interested in finding.  You never know, I may feature it in the future!
