Weekend Style Guide

Just for kicks and giggles I decided to bring back a favorite of mine, my weekend style guides. I have always struggled with achieving the perfect casual outfit for my down time. I always feel more comfortable when dressed up and when the weekend rolls around I feel so sloppy. I love the idea of a basic white tee and jeans but I just don’t feel like myself in them. I am in desperate need of some inspiration. Usually, putting these mood boards together does the trick and jumpstarts my creativity. There is one store in particular that I am really drawn to at the moment. That store is Madewell. Have you been in lately? When putting together my research for this post, I gravitated to their casual designs. I feel that Madewell is the exact store I need to get me out of my weekend style rut. I mixed other brands in there as well and I am really excited about what I have found so far. If you too are seeking guidance, I hope this post gives you the ideas you’ve been looking for. So today, in lieu of my Weekly Finds, I have three fabulous outfits that will raise your weekend style game.

3 Ways to Wear Boots This Winter

Thanks to the first snowstorm of the year, the east coast has been hammered with snow.  How are the rest of you faring this winter?  When it’s this cold and snowy out, all you want to wear are a pair of warm boots.  I know what you’re thinking.  How can I possibly wear boots all of the time?  I have the answer for you.  The great thing about boots is that they are incredibly versatile.  They don’t come in fancy colors or crazy patterns.  They can blend in and add sophistication to any outfit.  When you need a professional look for work, a heeled bootie is the perfect combination to pair with a dress or skirt.  This style can also be transferred for an evening out.  If you want to dress up the look, wear a suede boot, carry a clutch, and chose dramatic baubles.  For a casual outfit for the weekend, a light hue with a chunkier heel or a flat version is the way to go.  I am a big fan of booties and I have chosen to feature them in this post because of their adaptability.  Winter can be long and tedious but there are many fabulous ways to style boots so you can stay warm and still look chic.  Here are three different outfits so you can wear boots all day every day.  How will you style your boots?

3 Ways to Style Your Boots

Weekend Style Guide

Lately, I have wanted to reintroduce my Weekend Style Guides.  When I first stared this blog, I released one every week.  The main reason was because I have always had trouble deciding what to wear over the weekends.  As a dress girl, I have no problem during the week when I am social at work and going out, but casual wear is another story.  How do you look stylish without being frumpy?  That has been an eternal struggle for me.  Thanks to this blog, I have finally found my weekend groove and, I want to share with you what inspires me when it comes to getting dressed on the weekends.  Right now, the weather is definitely influencing me.  It’s supposed to be warm but with rain, so what do you wear?   Well this post has the perfect solution for you.  When rain and heat are in the forecast, overalls are great for covering up and staying cool.  I, for one, love this style, and, even if you’re not a believer, hopefully this outfit will change your mind.  So what do you think?  Would you like to see more Weekend Style Guides?  I’d love to know what you’re go-to weekend attire is, so leave a comment below!

Style Guide: Winter Layers

Baby it’s cold outside!  During these winter months, it can be difficult to put a stylish outfit together.  All we want is to be warm, and one way you can achieve that is with layers.  Wear a blouse underneath your chunky or cropped sweater to keep you warm without adding too much bulk.  Another tip is to play with color.  As much as I love all-black outfits, color will help brighten you mood when the gray days start to get to you.  Today’s style guide offers all of these things and more.  Try this these teal wool pants and plaid sweater and have fun playing around with colors and patterns.  Instead of wearing the same old black coat, try this heather grey hue for a lighter look.  Turn winter into your favorite fashion season by playing around with layers, colors, and prints.  You can start with this style guide!

Casual Weekend Style

One thing that I struggle with on the weekends is putting together the perfect casual outfit.  I am always more confident when I am wearing a skirt or a dress, but I feel the pressure of having to tone it down and relax on my days off.  I find it difficult to come up with a casual style that won’t make me feel sloppy.  From running errands, to brunch, to watching football with friends, it’s important for me to look stylish while still taking it easy.  I also factor in the weather.  The leaves may be changing, but humid temperatures are annoyingly sticking around.  I want to wear boots, sweaters, and scarves, not shorts and sundresses.   One helpful way of getting prepared for dealing with this confusing weather is to use the weekend to come up with stylish layering options.  For this Weekend Style Guide, I have put together an ensemble that I think is the answer to my prayers.  It may look simple, but often times, the simplest outfits are the hardest to create!  What do you like to wear on the weekend?

Today is officially the first day of summer!  Let us celebrate by drinking rosé  all day and frolicking around in a playful sundress.  What I love most about this outfit are the colors and vibrant prints of the dress.  It can be taken in so many stylish directions by mixing and matching your accessories.  I will be wearing it for a day of wine tasting with friends; however, you can also style it down for a lazy day playing in the park.  Whatever your plans, this feminine outfit will make you feel comfortable on a very hot day.  If you don’t have time to change for nighttime activities, have no fear; you’ll look fabulous all day long!
